Aerial view of Spa circuit While approching the last event of every league there is always a bit of sadness, our team is trying to get some fun with the announced party after the race with our “Olympic Mobile Party Trailer” (see previous article for details!), all drivers are invited!
SPA Franchorchamps is the perfect place for the last event, is an amazing circuit and easily reacheable by all Tyka admins so no excuses will be accepted, everybody must be present at the final party.
Talking about the league we’ve got already the champion of GT1 Locutus and GT2 Bartix, still to be assigned P1 and P2 classes so it is really time to enjoy SPA, a track for real drivers.

QUALIFYING RESULT

A total of 5 Olympic drivers qualified for this event, on P1 Josè Espinosa is 4th and Durielk 7th, on P2 Walter976 got his best qualify result of the league getting a 4th place at just +0.399s from the leader Rinker. Nemesis has been added at the back of the grid, his graphic card failed and is not sure he can fix it on time for the race.
On GT2 the champion Bartix got the 3rd place.

RACE RESULT

SPA is the longest race of the league, 2hrs of intense racing so the start has been anticipated at 20:30.
Two of our drivers couldn’t make it to the race, Josè Espinosa for unknown reason (did you read the new start time mate?) and Nemesis due to his graphic card problem, hope he can get it fixed soon.

A big storm is passed over Belgium during the first part of the race luckly it has not reached the circuit so the race was dry but was right above the location of the Tyka server and this created some troubles for several drivers getting a bad connection and big lag issues noticeable already during the warm-up session.
The decision was to go on with the race and cross fingers so let’s begin it!

SPA FRANCORHAMPSTHE RACE

As expected the start of the race was very problematic for some drivers facing a massive lag, some of them drove the first half of the race alone as other cars disappeared from the track and were re-appearing just for short moments, Walter976 was one having some serious issue, bad luck for him as he was one of the fastest on his class.
Just to mention some other drivers that reported problems: Veldt, Bogdanis (in fight for the title on P1), Kostas, Locutus and RustyM, a bit of mess really but that’s life and nobody wanted to delay the race.

Durielk touched by team mate Walter976 Some trouble at the beginning of the race for Durielk when some drivers had lag problems, he had contacts with his team mate Walter976 and made a couple of spins, he lost the rear wing so a pit stop was necessary already on lap 1.
Some other hot moments as normal during such long race but he was consistent as usual crossing the finish line on 5th position on his P1 class scoring again good points.

Durielk crossing the finish line

Bartix had one of the most exciting races of the league.
There were four GT2 cars this time and his starting position was third, he had good start, after first corner he was on second position with Jipper and MasterD behind.
Bad Luck caught him after the long straight on first lap, there were some accident (Durielk spun without his rear wing) and Bartix had to escape to the side to avoid the contact, then he had the contact with the wall… and dropped to fourth position. Fortunately the car was still driveable, comparing to his training stints he was about 0,5 sec slower from this point.
On third lap Taxi had bad luck too and our driver passed him, Taxi had to go pits and he was about 1 min behind, Bartix was trying to chase MasterD but it seems he was a little bit faster, the gap was about 6 – 17 sec. MasterD started to make mistakes from lap 23 and our driver got the visual contact again.
MasterD, Bartix and Taxi, very close In the meantime Taxi was getting closer, Bartix went to pits after 25 laps, MasterD did after 28 and after the pits they all were very close, MasterD 2nd, Bartix 3rd and Taxi 4th.
On lap 31 MasterD missed the braking point spun and withdrew the race.
Taxi passed our driver on lap 33, on lap 42 Bartix was about 8 sec behind him and then the gig 10 secs lag got our driver in eau rouge entrance, fortunately he didn’t crash, but there was now 20 secs gap to Taxi.
But never say never, after lap 47 Taxi went to Bartix passing Taxi during his pit stop pits again and our driver passed him on the start/finish straight then he lost his concentration, spun and hit the wall again. This time it was more serious, he got a flat tire the front right one. There were about 3 or 4 min left to the end of the race, so he wasn’t sure is that one or two laps more to go, he expected Taxi to pass him again on lap 48.
Bartix didn’t want to do any tactical stops on the track so he went to pits after lap 48, the overall leader Frozen passed him and crossed the finish line, our driver did it in the pit lane on second position. Taxi withdrew on lap 48.
He got a nice 2nd place on his class and everybody enjoyed his “white rabbit” uniform (see previous article!) that was also limiting his movements on board!
Bartix crossing the finish line on pit

Walter976 spins after being touched by RustyM Unfortunately for him Walter976 scored a DNF, his race lasted 20 laps and like in Brno he could start in advance to organize food and specially drinks for for everybody.
Lag problems for him since the very beginning of the race, a pity as he was looking forward for a top positions race, when the connection improved his race was already counting a couple of crashes and pit stops, no blaim to RustyM for a contact + spin as he was having similar problems, it was impossible to see other drivers on the track.
Error by Walter976, car destroied

————————————————————

Let’s see the final overall standing now!
P1: Frozen deserved the win, too fast for any other guy, 100 points gap to the second placed CasH followed close by his team mate Bogdanis third. The best Olympic driver is Josè Espinosa 6th while Durielk is 7th.
P2: amazing fight until the last turn, the final winner is RustyM followed by B Izdafar, the podium is completed by Zunik. For Olympic Nemesis got a fantastic 4th place and Walter976 is 9th.
GT1: Locutus is the winner of this class, 2nd Stewart and 3rd kf12006. No Olympic drivers in this class.
GT2: the winner is our Bartix! No discussion on this class, our driver has deserved the title, on 2nd place we have MasterD and 3rd Jipper89.

After the trophies assignment all drivers met at the “Olympic Mobile Party Trailer” placed right on the paddock, by luck some of them brought extra drinks as it was well known that some Tyka admins used to drink and unbelievable amount of alcohol.
The celebrations for the league continued all night long, it has been an enjoyable league for all partecipants, thanks to Tyka that made it possible, another success for the winter league and we look forward for the next one.
There were some talks already about the upcoming F1 league, there are rumors about the coming back of some old friends, unfortunately some drivers announced that they will skip the F1 league, see you soon guys!

Olympic motor racing team is now organizing his line up for the next TYKA F1 2010 league with WCP mod, finally there wll be a team classification so let’s start practicing with F1 monsters, the first race is planned on 21st March in Bahrein, cya there!
