Back in Germany after Nürburgring, for the 5th round we are in Hockenhiem, the track is not the last updated after the modifications on 2001 but it is the original Hockenheimring with long straights through the forest.
This version used to be quite large, with a very long, fast section essentially consisting of four straights of roughly 1.3 km, separated by a chicane sequence, followed by a more tight and twisty “stadium” section (so called because of all the grandstands situated there) named “Motodrom”. This made setting racing cars up difficult, as a choice had to be made – whether to run low downforce to optimise speed through the straights and compromise grip in the stadium section, or vice-versa.
We’ll do an endurance 105 mins race, we expect a tight race on all classes, time to see the results now!
QUALIFYING RESULT
Three of us qualified on P1 class, the best is Josè Espinosa 4th than Durielk 7th and Kamilo62 8th. Pole position for Bogdanis that with a new wheel has been nearly half second faster than Frozen, impressive! On P2 Walter976 caught the 4th place while Nemesis is 12th as it was a last minute qualifier. Pole for Zunik followed close by Rinker, from 3rd place we have 6 drivers within 0.7 secs, very interesting.
Last class for us is GT2 where Bartix was sick for most of the week but still able to get 3rd place, the poleman is Danny3L as Taxi was penaized of 1.5 secs due to chicane cuttings. First 3 drivers in just 0.640 secs, another very tight class.
RACE RESULT
For the second time in a row all our qualified drivers are present at the race, this is what we like, commitment for the team. Finally with 32 qualifiers and 28 drivers showing up for the race Tyka decided to do one single heat, this is what we all like, racing together is the funniest thing to do. Anyway the server suffered this amount of drivers showing lag problems on the last part of the race, everybody could notice it tough fortunately there were no big problems as the race was nearly over.
HOCKENHEIM – THE RACE
Surely the first to be mentioned is our mexican friend Josè Espinosa that caught the 1st place on P1 class, first win for him on Tyka and first win for the team on P1 class!Josè has shown us how fast he can be already on previous races but have not been lucky at all, in Hockenheim his race was rich of spins and mistakes but he was also really fast and this has permitted him to get the win after fighting with Frozen first and than with CasH that finished just 1 second behind him.
Initially Frozen seemd to be faster than the rest of the pack but he made mistakes on first part on the race going first wide on the motodrom and than spinning on T1, Josè was following him and couldn’t avoid a contact that break the rear wing of Frozen and created no big damages to our driver.
Josè was 3rd with Bryan and CasH on first 2 places, his strategy made the difference as he was on 1 pit while his rivals did 2 stops, this permitted him to get the first place on the very last part of the race and being able to defend the win from CasH that was recovering fast due to the new tyres.
As said not the best race for Josè but a deserved win, to be mentioned the nice fight with CasH with both drivers passing each other on chicanes taking advantage of small mistakes.
Congratulations Josè !!!
On P1 class the only 2 drivers that got a DNF were our Durielk and Kamilo62, connection problems for Durielk while he was doing good in 5th position, bad luck… Kamilo was also doing a nice race, he was fast on this track but we have to say that he tried to keep behind Durielk even if he was clearly slower, they spun together while fighting and Kamilo probaly burned his engine few meters after. Not the best behaviour for Kamilo, it costed his race an nearly also the one of Durielk, we need to take more care with our team mates, hopefully this will not happen again.
On P2 class Walter976 and Nemesis got a nice 4th and 5th place but their race was really messy just think that Nemesis got the second fastest time to understand that there was a potential for a top 3 placement.
Walter976 after the usual bad start recovered good positions when was hitted from the back by Arti and spun while entering te motodrom… resterted 26th and recovered until 10th place, he was at 1 secs from RustyM and Nemesis was following him close, he did his only pit at half race but forgot to disable the option to repair the body of the car which costed about 30 extra secs.
He had to rebuild his race, he reached 11th position, Nemesis was 10th very far from him so he realized that this was probably his final place as there were only 25 mins to go but… suddenly Kostas that was 8th or 7th was in pit and retired than with about 10 mins to go also Nemesis pitted (fuel!!!) and exited side by side with him but he managed to stay in front on first chicane, Wlater976 increased boost risking to blow engine as Nemesis was quite aggressive but managed to finish in front, 4th place on the class.
Nemesis was starting near the back of the P2 grid, he got a decent get away and grabbed a few spots, spent the next couple of laps nervously dodging incidents and working his way through the field. Once he caught up to RustyM he kept making silly mistakes spinning at the same chicane three times and running wide a couple of times. This let Walter976 past and he was just trying to build some confidence back up in the car, after finding some genuine pace he got past Walter976 and then… spun again this time on the last corner. From here he pitted but put the wrong amount in, then pitted again and still had it wrong… no comments… On coming out the last time he had a close fight with Walter976 until the end but couldnt get past. At the end of the race we discoverd Nemesis was hungover which is maybe an excuse but will explain entirely his race! LOL
Let’s go to see Bartix on GT2 now, disappointing to see that only 3 drivers partecipates to his class, Taxi the fastest one was missing.
He didn’t practice much before this race, but was feeling quite confident on this track, old Hockenheim is one of his favorites. His start wasn’t good, neither as Pompian’s who was right in front of him, he had to make turn to pass and MasterD coming from behind passed him in the mean time so he dropped to 3rd behind Danny3L and MasterD.
He was keeping at the end of GT2 pack with a constant pace and distance to his GT2 competitors, their pace was similar, right to the end of lap 4 MasterD did couple mistakes and Bartix passed him on first straight of lap 5, this will be only the beginning of a great fight between these 2 drivers.
Right after second chicane Ian Stewart was closing to pass the 2 GT2 drivers, he passed Bartix right before the third chicane and our driver had to turn into it just behind him, he turned little too late and went too wide, as he didn’t want to cut he slided and lost second position.
He was still right on MasterD’s tail and first lapping action meet them in the beginning of lap 7, Frozen spun while passing MasterD, Bartix was right behind and he had to go wide through the gravel. Another hot moment.
At the end of lap 7 GT2 leader Danny3L did mistake, spun, and dropped to third position, on lap 10 Danny3L had some PC trouble and withdrew from the race, he pulled Mihai Calota and his car with him directly to the scrap yard.
On laps 10 – 18 Bartix have lost some time to leading MasterD (about 10-15 sec), he guessed that was mostly fault of lapping, bad luck for him that it took place in difficult areas but after that (since lap 18 more less) he started to accustom to it and found how not to loose so much time during the lapping process. He got closed to about 5 sec on lap 20, probably MasterD started to have some tires trouble as his right tire started to smoke a lot every time he braked to the chicanes. The same happened on lap 22 while braking to the third chicane, his car turned too much to the right, he went too wide into the chicane and probably under pressure he decided to cut, his car jumped on the curb and spun. Right after that Bartix took the lead again.
MasterD started to drive more aggressively and tried to pass our driver on lap 23 in second chicane, after lapping by Stewart but… he failed, this time Bartix was the one under pressure and at the end of lap 23 he went too wide and lost the leading but stood still on his tail.
Meanwhile KF12006 (GT1) was chasing them and CasH was also getting closer for lapping, our driver let them pass right after first chicane on lap 24, in braking to the second chicane KF12006 did brake too late and pushed MasterD off the road, Bartix was on the lead again.
After lap 25 Bartix pitted and lost his position, MasterD went to the pit after lap 28 and came out in front of him but he was still right on his tail again. With cold tires and brakes our driver passed him easily on second chicane he also have noticed that MasterD’s engine was overheating.
On lap 30 our driver went straight in the second chicane to let Walter976 pass, MasterD took the chance and passed him then, Bartix was trying to take his position back in third chicane but unfortunately he braked too late and didn’t want to cut so he lost it right in the chicane exit.
Anyway on his second stint Bartix felt even more confident with the car and track so he was keeping right on MasterD’s tail, he didn’t want to risk too much, but he was waiting for an opportunity which came on lap 33 when Kostas pushed MasterD off the road in first chicane and he got his leading position back, from this point he was getting very fast and the gap to MasterD was constantly increasing, after lap 38 he read the info that MasterD withdrew from the race, engine gone.
Bartix turned down the engine’s boost and concentrated on finishing this drive without any trouble, surprisingly that wasn’t end of hot moments as on lap 40 a misunderstanding with Krivjur made it spun in the middle of the road while another group of cars was closing, fortunately he reacted fast enough, turned reverse and went off the way.
The rest was just enjoying the beautiful track, the evening was coming and sky was getting red, after lap 48 finally he saw the chackered flag, much fun with this race, thanks specially to MasterD for good and fair fight.
Bartix is now he is very close to get the driver championship that will be an impressive an unexpected result for a rookie, we hope this will convince him that he is a good driver and is ready to try some faster car, we all want him with us on F1 season.
————————————————————
Let’s look the overall standing, Josè Espinosa is 5th on P1 recovering 3 position thanks to his win, Durielk is 8th and Kamilo62 still last at zero points.
On P2 Nemesis is 5th followed by Walter976 6th, Avni Tumay still at zero points, there are rumors saying that he hs fixed his lag prblems and will be soon back with us!
Bartix is clear leader of GT2 class with 170 points gap to MasterD, extremly close to win he championship, finger crossed for the next round.
Two races to go, the next one is in Czech-Republic, the Brno circuit, no many drivers knows this circuit so it will be again an interesting sprint race, see you on track!
